Acetabular Osteoplasty
Acetabular Osteoplasty
(PINCER-TYPE FEMOROACETABULAR IMPINGEMENT)
PINCER morphology is another cause of femoroacetabular impingement. In this case, the impingement is not due to the femoral neck but rather to an overgrown anterior-lateral portion of the acetabulum, which results in abnormal contact between the acetabulum and femur due to excessive coverage of the femoral head. The excess bone can be removed arthroscopically using a specialized arthroscopic burr.
