Subchondral Bone Plasty
The presence of large subchondral cysts in the acetabulum is a pathological condition affecting certain patients. These cysts are usually located in the anterior part of the acetabulum and can cause chronic and persistent hip pain.
Subchondroplasty is a technique that involves injecting a specialized bone substitute material with biomechanical properties similar to natural bone into the cyst. This process fills the cyst and recreates a stable foundation for the acetabular cartilage. The procedure is performed under arthroscopic guidance, meaning it is combined with hip arthroscopy, and under fluoroscopic guidance to ensure precise placement of the bone graft.
