Decompression - Drilling of the Femoral Head
Decompression - Drilling of the Femoral Head
Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head is a serious pathological condition that threatens the survival of the femoral head. In this condition, a portion of the bone within the femoral head becomes necrotic, which can result from various pathological conditions. Ultimately, this leads to the collapse of the subchondral bone—the outer surface of the femoral head—along with the overlying articular cartilage, causing hip joint degeneration. With decompression and drilling of the femoral head, we aim to relieve pressure in the necrotic area and promote revascularization. In many cases, this procedure yields positive results, facilitating the formation of new bone tissue.
